Installation

This is a step by step installation guide of DuckProve. The installation should take around 1 to 30 minutes, depending on the user experience.

Step by step

Step 1: Get site access

First you will need to get access to the sites source code. Best way to get access to your sites source code is by asking your webmaster. You could also ask your webmaster to install DuckProve for you.

Step 2: Download the site

When you have access, make a copy of all files on your computer.

Step 3: Create backup

Make another copy of the site. This is going to be your backup, which you can use in case something goes wrong.

Step 4: Search headers

Now go to your downloaded source code and search for “</head>” in all files. You can do this automatically using tools like Notepad++, Visual Studio, findstr (in the console), grep or any other more advanced text editing tool.

Step 5: Add snippet

Now you should follow the installation instructions of your site which you can find here on all locations you found. Usually there is only one location, but if there are multiple </head> tags, you might need to consider creating an own site - in case it does not belong to the same - for each within DuckProve.

Step 6: Add goals

To add a goal, you can use a snippet like this on your booking confirmation page:

<script type='text/javascript'>
	duckprove.values.add('bookings', 1);
</script>

Instead of submitting “1” to duckprove, you could also submit any numeric value, for instance the price of the product. You can also use Google Tag Manager with the same snippet.

Step 7: Configuration

You may want to configure the javascript API if necessary.

Step 8: Save and upload

After you finished making those changes, you can upload your site again on your webserver. The installation is finished.
